And just like that, autumn has arrived!
Today, the walk was just me and nature. It's been a few weeks since I managed to get out alone, and it was so nourishing to decompress. The showering rain didn't deter me from my heartfelt wander. I could feel the pull from others fade away and the refill of my energy returning with every step, the gentle rain washed away any thoughts as I realised that once again the wheel is turning and my focus is now on the bounty of autumn. Fungi is appearing, and acorns and berries are growing fat. I couldn't resist a juicy blackberry that called out 'I have been waiting for you' as I passed.
The sweet scent of flowers and essentially oil-filled plants is waning as the smell of damp woodlands, moss and pine filled the air, but the crazy weather had forced Mother Nature to try out a new look with flowering foxgloves neighbouring berried brambles, and the trees are doing their last true flush of green before she changes her wardrobe to this seasons must-have colours, with the braken leading the way.
