For generations, we have watched over you, dear humans. We provide you with food, shelter, fire, wood, and medicine. Yet, do you understand that we are also here to bring you healing, wisdom, and a connection to all things?
As time has passed, we seem to have lost our entwined gratitude, love, and respect for each other, and it is time for the human race to value that connection once more. You are not separate from me and my fellow tree community; you are connected to everything through your vibration, your energy, and your actions. Just as we are connected to the "wood wide web" through the mycelium, and just as we lean into the light, nourished by the rain and spread our seed on the wind, we appreciate all our connections to everything.
Spring brings us the gift of song, summer brings us the gift of growth, autumn gives us the space to let go, and winter gives us the gift of stillness. Owls become our guardians as we sleep, and as Imbolc stirs, woodpeckers start to awaken us. Amongst our stirring boughs and rising sap, birds give us the gift of song and bring us twigs, leaves, and moss that they artistically entwine in return for a safe place to raise their young. By the time of the summer solstice, we lean into the light which gives growth, and bees drape our boughs in sweet honey, while mammals fertilise our roots in return for somewhere to shelter from the heat. Mabon gives a time of reflection for all the woodland. We appreciate where the abundance happened this time around the sun, and how we all supported one another in our weaknesses. Then, with a sigh of acceptance, we let go. We withdraw and allow the network that has quietly supported us out of sight to bloom in a weird and wonderful glory of fungi.
We miss this connection with you, my dear human. In my younger years, you would come and sit with me, bring me gifts of stones, feathers, and sticks. You would include me in your celebrations of thanking nature and the seasons for an abundant crop and harvest. I miss your song and that happy humming you made, just for the joy of sharing each other's company. You used to share your thoughts, your worries, and your ideas with me, but now you just walk past.

It's time to rekindle our relationship. I ask you not to just walk right up to me or my fellow trees and throw your arms around us. Just like humans, some of us don't want to be hugged by a stranger. Step under our boughs, ask permission to sit with us, and let's rediscover the trust and gratitude as we rebuild a symbiotic and powerful relationship again. As I gain trust in you and can feel the love in your heart, and hear the song in your voice once more I will introduce you to the other woodland creatures, the guardians of nature, and teach you how to open your senses to more than what you can see, hear, taste, feel, and smell.
This, my dear human, is when we will welcome you home.
